RE: Applix 1616 - ChickenMan - 03-01-2020

Hmm.. I just logged out so now viewing the forum as a non-member and I can see the large pic no probs. Try widening your browser window. Oh, I'm running Chrome, what browser are you using?

EDIT: I just tried Firefox, Edge & Opera browsers and I get no pic Sad

RE: Applix 1616 - Robert - 03-01-2020

I'm using Firefox 71.0

Also tried IE11, but it says this site cannot be found. (EDIT: turns out it doesn't like your https - http allows access but the page is a scrambled mess - and still no thumbnail)

So, currently, there's no thumbnail, and nothing to see.

RE: Applix 1616 - ChickenMan - 03-01-2020

Okay have increased the size of the Thumbnail, seams to work in Firefox but not in Chrome.  I wish all the browsers were compatible with one another.

RE: Applix 1616 - Robert - 05-01-2020

OK I can see the thumbnail again, and it's larger. But clicking on it still produces the error. What is supposed to happen is that a window pops up with the picture made much larger. After all, a thumbnail is just a sample - clicking is supposed to show the full size. So there's either a bad setting in the forum's admin page, or incorrect file permissions on the server.

Also, from the main page of this site there is no link to the forum (or if there is, it isn't obvious).

RE: Applix 1616 - someone - 22-01-2020

Someone still has their Applix1616 complete in its official case which uses an Apple II compatible power supply.
It still looks pristine but hasn't been powered up for a while.

Remember that it uses a PC XT keyboard (not AT!). There are some clone keyboards around that have a switch to support either mode.

RE: Applix 1616 - ChickenMan - 22-01-2020

Great, can you take a couple of photos, would be good to see an "original" case. The docs all talk about using Apple II power supplies as they were the cheapest available at the time. Mine has a 230 watt XT power supply.

I have a couple of spare XT keyboards that are switchable. I have also discovered the XT keyboard cables have 5 wire + earth white the AT keyboards only have 4 wires + earth as I was going to just change over the deteriorated cable. Might have to pull one of my XT keyboards apart just to get the cable.
