RE: UBee512 Launcher UI - zbfairlane - 08-05-2026

Hi all,

Thanks everyone for the feedback and interest, I have to say I was really surprised to have so much interest in this little project.

I have taken some really useful feedback about how this launcher parses roms and behaves with different systems as well.

As a very inexperienced user of Ubee512 I have learned so much about how the emulator works which is a bonus. Thank you all for contributing to my learning.

I'll take some time to work in some changes to the UI soon to make more use of Ubee512 natural capabilities especially around rom selection.

I am about to move into a very busy season with my day to day work so my updates are likely to be slower from now. Please continue to call out problems or raise issues directly in Github though as I still continue to learn and improve.

Cheers,
Anthony

A great addition to my day to day tools - I am VERY grateful you put the effort in

I noticed while exploring the features of it that my CPMTools were not reading the diskettes as intended and followed getting the patched version, and removing the intel development tools and rebuilding all the libraries on my macbook with the ARM equivalents - recompiling the current versions of cpmtools with the patch and voila! its working very well - I might not need to crack open the terminal quite so often in future!

I am very glad to read this. I will be making the promised video soon and sharing it based on what currently works. Coming soon.

Hi All,

Just an update FYI. This project has continued to evolve. Right now in the Linux build there have been a large range of changes and updates. These are being verified, and I have been getting some awesome feedback. Version 1_4 is available for Linux in GitHub.

RE: UBee512 Launcher UI - zbfairlane - 24-05-2026

HI everyone,

Just a quick hello and to let you know the Launcher is still undergoing some serious revision.

I have had some very helpful guidance on the workings of Ubee512 by ubee@mspp which has really helped me to understand how the launcher can integrate.

The latest version 1_5k is available in https://github.com/gbhobbytech/Ubee512-Launcher for Linux.

In this version there is a major focus on the user experience. If you happen to try it I would love to hear how it works for you. Full builds for Windows and Mac are queued and remembered.

Windows and Mac - Arm versions are now available on the link above. The version is 1_5k across all platforms currently. Hopefully its much more useful to people.

Windows version under Win11 working great for me. I havent tried all options but it launches 2MHZ through to 256TC fine for me and able to change some of the roms as well. Havent tried the CPMTOOLS yet.

Great work, keep it up Smile

Well done, installs well. I use A:\UBEE512 and all seems well. I did not realise how many .dsk files I now have. Big Grin Thanks for the revised layout especially: on my small laptop screen the [Launch Ubee512] button is well situated.

it does appear that the binaries are Apple Silicon only,  which accounts for why it doesn't work on the MacBook Air

Any chance of parsing the rom.alias file and pre-loading the roms based on the model selected ?

Thanks
Tony

I think this should no longer be a problem in the recent update to 1_5k, as Ubee@mspp pointed out to me roms.alias does a good job of handling this and my initial launcher wasnt leveraging that ability. So now, rom slection respects ubee512 natural talent rather than trying to micromanage it.

I have an old old mac which has an intel processor, its my garage machine. I have the idea that I will also create a build on that and push it to github, I just need a chance to get out there and see if I can make that work. I'll keep you posted.
