I would really look at using a Premium capable Basic such as the latest 6.35e to be compatible with everything.

Oh boy. I'm on the home straight with 6.23. I guess there won't  be too much difference to use 6.35e.

Let me get 6.23 stable and then i will pivot to 6.35e.

My emulation model is PC85, does 6.35e work, or do i need to look at telecomputer hardware?

In someone's opinion the manuals don't explain it well.
Someone treats the DRAM on a 128K machine as four 32K banks (0-3).
All banks can appear at the memory map at 0000-7FFF and are selected by using the nominated bank select register bits (output port).
Bank #0 is the only bank that can also be at address range 8000-FFFF.
The other options such as VDU address, and ROM option bits are used to punch little holes into the DRAM (Bank #0) at address range 8000-FFFF.

ahhhh, thank you, you've cleared up a bit more confusion for this BASIC fanboi!!!

Well the PC85 used 5.29e which was the last Premium Basic used for a rom based Bee. We dont have 6.29 (if it was ever available) but we do have 6.30 up to 6.35 where some of the routines were optimized and error removed, etc so why not use the latest.

I have dropped 6.35 into vibedrone and basic Wink functionality is working. HIRES does nothing. So a little work to troubleshoot. cheers g

Thats great, its HIRES2 that will be new.

i'm stumbling over inverse and PCG any thoughts?

I'm pretty sure the everything prior to the 256TC switched in the character rom, read a byte, XOR'ed it and then wrote back to PCG ram.

I think the 256TC had inverse functionality via attribute ram

Thanks
Tony

thanks Tony, yes thats it. PCG at start has inverse functionality in 6.35e. YAY!

Back to 5.29 emulation cleanup, another question.

Should an PPC85 BASIC emulation start at Ready > ie from EXEC_MENU or at COLD_BOOT showing Applied Technology microbee Colour Basic 5.29 header? what do i need to do to reveal top choices      ?

RE: ' BEE BASIC emulation in the browser(local)/on the desktop - ChickenMan - 05-08-2026

A PPC85 when boots Basic from the Menu, you dont see the Applied Technology microbee Colour Basic 5.29 notice, just a Ready.
