BEEVIEW — Microbee .MWB Library Catalog Tool

BEEVIEW is a standalone HTML-based application designed for managing and viewing the descriptions in MBEECATSE ( now includes ftp .omen .mwb files). Bonus feature can view external .mwb files in modern OS folders / rcpmfs folders.

Main Features:
  • Catalog Management
    • Loads and displays the complete MBEECATSE from I.js
    • Shows program ID, name, disk number, and description in a searchable, retro-styled interface
    • Allows easy editing of program descriptions
    • Saves changes back to I.js with automatic backup (I.bak)
  • .MWB Program Viewer
    • Detokenises and displays the original tokenized Microbee BASIC programs (.mwb files)
    • Renders a LISTING with keywords, line numbers, strings, and numbers includes handling for colour POKE commands (POKE 156, POKE 157) — displays them as COLOR, COLOUR, COLORB, COLOURB for improved readability
    • Can load .mwb files directly from disk or extract them from the embedded ZIP inside MBEECATSE2.html
  • User Experience
    • Fully offline, single HTML file (no installation required) - requires MBEECATSE and I.js
    • Authentic retro CRT aesthetic with amber/green terminal styling
    • Keyboard navigation and search support
    • Copyable BASIC listings

BEEVIEW serves as both a catalog editor for maintaining the BEECATSE software collection and a convenient detokeniser / viewer / exporter for exploring classic Microbee BASIC programs.

Instructions: >>Click OPEN FOLDER to select the folder containing your I.js and MBEECATSE2.html files — the catalog loads automatically (a file request warning may appear depending on your browser.)

Search by program name or index number; results update as you type.

Select any entry to edit its description, then click SAVE to write I.js and a backup I.bak directly to the same folder.

To view a program, select an entry and click ▶ SHOW PROGRAM — the .mwb file is extracted from the embedded ZIP and detokenised into a BASIC listing.

Click 📂 LOAD .MWB to view any .mwb file directly from disk.

Use ⧉ COPY to copy the listing to the clipboard.

I hope these modern tools enable people to explore the legacy held in the MBUG and other collections.
