Arcade_1 and Arcade_2 Games disks re-vamped - ChickenMan - 15-10-2019

The original Arcade 1 disk was a double sided 3.5" disk designed to run on a Premium 128k Microbee. This has now been split into 2 single sided disks to allow better use on a CIAB.

Arcade 1 contains only Applied Technology/Microbee Systems published games. The colour version of Target has also been included and Survivor is now the keyboard version rather than Joystick only. See list below.

Arcade 2 contains a couple of Applied Technology/Microbee Systems published games together with all the remaining games from the original disk.  However, the CP/M game Ladder has been removed (now on another disk) but added were 3 versions of Grooble Grab (Keyboard, Joystick and Chalkboard), mono & colour versions of Brick-Ball, Carace, Armoured Patrol, Frogman, Space Patrol and the Penetrator Editor. Kilopede updated and Reef Runners now works properly. See list below.

M.MWB is the main Menu and includes, within its code, the start address of all the machine code *.BEE and *.COM games. Many of the games have had a header added to allow them to start at the default 0x0900 address.

Some Basic written games will return back to the main Menu.  If not, then just type in RUN "M" and tap Return.

Some games, like Apple Panic and Brick-ball, will require a Hard Reset to exit the game.

The menu colours can be easily changed also on either disk. Hit ^C at the menu, type in EDIT 2.  Changing the value of X will make monochrome games run in that colour, default is 2 (Green). Changing the value of Y changes the colour on the selection letter, default is 6 (Brown). Changing the value of Z changes the colour of the games name, default is 14 (Yellow). Then SAVE "M" once changed.

To run the disks on a CIAB 'bee, either run them from B: drive or put its system on the disk and set to run BASIC M. Replace the Basic with ver 6.23e and then change HIRES2 to HIRES in the menu (M.MWB) in lines 3 and 53. Scavenger doesnt run on the CIAB.

Most of the games written in Assembler will NOT run a 256TC due to the different keyboard used.

RE: Arcade_1 and Arcade_2 Games disks re-vamped - ChickenMan - 14-12-2019

Due to requests, we have made available the above 2 disks already configured for the CIAB.  So in ubee512 emulator, to run them use

ubee512 ciab -a arcade_1_ciab_ss80.dsk

To write them to a real floppy, on an old PC use

ubeedisk --format=ss80 --if=arcade_1_ciab_ss80.dsk --of=a:

So, these 2 disks are now in the Repository in the MbeeTech/Microbee/Software/Games folder

RE: Arcade_1 and Arcade_2 Games disks re-vamped - ChickenMan - 07-06-2020

Due to requests, we have made available the above 2 disks already configured for the early 56K/64K Microbees with 5.25" floppy drives.

The popular Scavenger doesnt run on the CIAB or the 56K/64K bee but the Pre-Release Boulderdash version does appear to work so has been replaced.

So, these disks are now in the Repository in the MbeeTech/Microbee/Software/Games folder

RE: Arcade_1 and Arcade_2 Games disks re-vamped - ChickenMan - 12-10-2020

Thanks to kimjohn for raising the issue this evening that on the arcade_1_ciab_ss80.dsk disk that the last game on the menu, CHOPPER PILOT, was not actually on the disk Sad  and pressing "\" just returned you back to the Menu.  This has been fixed, Chopper Pilot now playable and the disk updated, so if you have downloaded it before, then grab a new copy. The same problem was also found on the 5.25" 40 track 56k/64k disk as well.  Sorry about that.

These disks are now in the Repository in the MbeeTech/Microbee/Software/Games folder
