Caresoft Spelling Manager disk and manual for the Microbee. - ChickenMan - 11-08-2020
Thanks to ejwords for making this disk available to be imaged. It was a 3.5" single sided bootable disk that imaged 100% error free.
Spelling Manager version 1.6s was produced by Caresoft in 1985. This is an updated version of the original tape based program now for disk based operation providing a greater flexibility and an advanced approach to spelling remediation and extension. From the manual :-
This is a spelling program compatible with current
thinking on the psycholinguistic reading process.
Indeed, rather than having at your disposal a
single option program, CARE SPELLING MANAGER offers
interactive features which make full use of all
components in a computer system. Word list or
context bank storage is possible and individual
records may be stored or printed.
There is an extensive list of word files on the disk for Years 1, 3 & 5. At the start of the program where it asks for your name, enter TEACHER and it will take you to a Setup menu to select the grade, word list, etc. or you can start a new one.
The manual came as a Wordstar file on the disk (its still on the disk) which was then extracted and converted to a PDF for easier use. It's 22 pages long and Chapters are :-

So in the MbeeTech Repository in the Microbee\Software\Education folder we placed
spelling_manager_ss80.dsk
and in the Microbee\Documentation\Manuals\Education folder we placed
