Some more Microbee Tapes have been recovered + even more - ChickenMan - 29-11-2020

Thanks to magnut for providing recordings of his Microbee tapes. The tapes were recorded at 44.1khz and saved initially as a mono 16 bit WAV files. The tapes contained no copy protection and some needed cleaning with noise removal so they can load error free into ubee512 as an IC or PC85 Microbee. The 5 programs were :-

Attack of the Zargons is a nice little game of quick reflexes and is based on the space pilot game. It was originally presented in Your Computer magazine September 1983 as a program listing.

Matcal is a powerful "number crunching" program using matrix manipulation techniques. The program is a complete operating environment with error detection and on-line help functions.

Number Hangman is from Flying Fox Software. An educational game were you have to answer the addition/subtraction problem before you are hung. Lots of options.

Ring of Doom is a text adventure game. You search for the dark lord of Saurean's ring of power, which is located somewhere near Mount Doom. This ring must be destroyed or the world will perish. But, beware of the dangers on the way.

Subwar is a simple game where you have to bomb the submarines from your helicopter. 9 levels of difficulty and Joystick only game.

The WAV files were later down sampled to 16kHz and saved as 8bit WAV files to reduce their size considerably but retain error free loading. Each of the zip files also contains a copy of the program in MWB format as well as the WAV file.

So in the MbeeTech repository in the Microbee\Software\Tapes\Original folder we placed

attack_of_the_zargons.zip
matcal.zip
number_hangman.zip
ring_of_doom.zip
subwar.zip

Thanks to ggalea for providing recordings of his Microbee tapes. The tapes were recorded at 96khz and saved initially as a mono 8 bit WAV files. The tapes contained no copy protection and all needed manual fixing of the wav file itself as well as cleaning with noise removal so they can load error free into ubee512 as an IC or PC85 Microbee.

A great array of files from classic games like Emu Joust to small magazine listings like Large Character Generator and everywhere in between.  Most we already have a working file on disk, but a few we do not so a working MWB file is included in the ZIP file also.  The vhs_data_memory_display we already have it as a ROM as well. The WAV files were later down sampled to 16kHz or 22khz and saved as mono 8bit WAV files to reduce their size considerably but retain error free loading.

So in the MbeeTech repository in the Microbee\Software\Tapes\Original folder we placed
