SME Public Domain Newsletters & Software Catalog - ChickenMan - 12-08-2021

Thanks to Ian Thomas via exidyboy for making his collection of Newsletters available for scanning. All were A4 double sided pages in a 4 ring binder and all scanned at 600dpi.

SME Electronics was an early manufacture of S100 cards including their Z80 S100 Single Board Computer and other peripheral cards. They are still operational today - http://www.sme.com.au/sme-system/

From Vol-01 1987 Feb -
Now to what’s new, we have added "heaps" of new software to the library with PC-SIG now up to 622 and PC-BLUE to 269.

So these Newsletters are full of software reviews of the above Public Domain disks, recommendations, readers reviews, lots of hints & trick, letters to the Editor, program listings, etc etc.  Interesting reading for the early MS-DOS and Windows software.

Unfortunately Vol 21 is missing Page 1 & 2 (was actually Vol 23 page 1 & 2), otherwise the collection is complete, but can anyone help there with the missing pages?  The name changed from SME Public Domain Newsletter to SHAREWARE Digest from Vol 42 1990 Nov. They progressively got bigger in size with time, initial each were 4 to 6 pages long, then to 8 pages and finally 10.  But there is one at 1 page and another at 16 pages, so varied in number of pages quite a bit.

So in the Vintage Repository in the SME_System\SME_Newsletters folder we placed

SME Software Catalog - ChickenMan - 13-08-2021

Thanks to Ian Thomas via exidyboy for making his folder of SME's Software Catalog listings available for scanning. All were A4 double sided pages in a 4 ring binder and all scanned at 600dpi.

SME through their Software division, made available a significant range of Public Domain, Shareware and Commercial software for MS-DOS and early versions of Windows.  They had 2 main collections, A Series and PC-SIG.  The A Series consisted of a collection a disks sent in by their members and also some from the PC-Blue collection.  The PC-SIG collection consisted of 1000's of Public Domain & Share disks.

Since the Catalog is somewhat extensive (about 380 pages), the A Series and PC-SIG series PDF's were grouped to contain 20 pages each to make them more manageable to read and download.

So in the Vintage Repository in the new SME_Systems\SME_Software_Catalog folder we placed
