More Microbee Tapes have been recovered - ChickenMan - 05-03-2022 Thanks to Greg Conroy for making his Microbee tape collection available to be recovered, some originals, some copies. All were recorded at 44.1khz and saved as 16bit WAV stereo files using Goldwave. The left and right channels were separated and files recovered from one of these. Most were able to load directly into a PC85 error free with no filtering required. Of all the original cassette's, Text Formatter was the only one not in our collection. The program files and Manual were released to the Repository some time back, see https://microbeetechnology.com.au/forum/showthread.php?tid=8&pid=9#pid9 . Some of the tapes included cassette inserts that we didn't have also or the actual tape itself. These were all scanned and current files updated. All the other tapes recovered were originally recorded at 1200baud so the files are small and they load quicker than the normal 300baud tapes. It appears most have come via the Australasian Microbee User Group in Sydney, being Games, Utilities and some just draw a high res picture to the screen, like Gunman & Saloon. The WAV files were mostly re-sampled to 22khz and saved as mono 8bit WAV files and all retested to load error free into a PC85. They are all Basic programs and the MWB files saved also and included within the ZIP file of each. The game of Munch is a Pacman type version while the current version is a Maths Educational type game, so labelled as ver2. The nsw_pams_numbers.wav is actually a Wordbee File and lists all the known PAMS (BBS's) in Sydney as of 5th Jan 1985 from the Apple Users' Group BBS, to Dick Smith RIBM, to Sorcerer RCPM to the Texas Instruments (TISHUG). Includes opening hours, phone number and Sysop. So in the MBeeTech Repository in the Microbee\Software\Tapes\Original folder we placed text_formatter16k.wav text_formatter32k.wav 5_games.wav asteroids.wav ausbug.wav bomber_raid.wav coordinate_plot_graphics.wav crazy8.wav decision_maker.wav directory_database.wav graphics.wav gunman.wav half_tone_graphics.wav hex_to_dec.wav high_roller.wav integral_calculus.wav munch_v2.wav nsw_pams_numbers.wav saloon_picture.wav screen_dump.wav screen_dump_v2.wav screen_location.wav show_pcg_built.wav space_rocks.wav sunset.wav talking_about_sex.wav tape_header.wav wari.wav wizards_castle.wav sabre_of_sultar_32k.jpg <-- in Microbee/Documentation/Pictures/Tapes folder text_formatter.jpg touch_type_tutor.jpg ztrek.jpg |
