Star Cube game - ChickenMan - 01-12-2019

I just found a small but old game called Star Cube by John Hardy.  I'm not sure what the object of the game is though, John can you advise ? This is the opening screen.

Yes it's one of mine. It's a Rubik's cube type of thing although I don't remember the details. You should be able to manipulate it with various key combos.

I can't say I'm very proud of this one. Lindsay Ford of Dreamcards wasnt very impressed with it either, wanted to only publish "high quality games" so I'm surprised it survived at all.

The game I would have preferred to see was my version of centipedes which was advertised in Talking Electronics. That was written for the Microbee using the assembler rom. It was published by Dreamcards.

The versions of that game that did survive and got archived are not by me although similar looking (not surprising considering that the Centipedes arcade game was still current at the time).

Thanks John.  That game was called MILLIPEDE I believe and its description sounds like a great version also.  Unfortunately we have not found that one yet Sad can anyone help with this one?

Yes that's the one. It would be a miracle if it was found but there have been miracles before so I can still hope!

Thanks again.

The game is pretty simple although I suppose it does demonstrate some interesting coding aspects.

It's a puzzle game but there's no pay off for solving it. It's just a simple scrambling of some Rubik's cube-like rows and columns and the diamond keys ASWZ to shuffle it. R randomises them. The whole thing is only about 25 lines long.

I've uploaded the source code to GitHub on my Microbee related repo, here:
