Some Text Adventure game disks for the System 80 with M1ZVM - ChickenMan - 06-11-2022 Thanks to sijnstra for making M1ZVM available as a loader for Z-Code adventure games on the Dick Smith System 80. Please check out his github site for further information - https://gitlab.com/sijnstra1/m1zvm/ M1ZVM is a Dick Smith System 80 / TRS-80 Model 1 48K Infocom/Inform/Z-machine game virtual machine. Requires 48K, disk drives (double density or other larger capacity recommended) and lower case modification also recommended for input. It can run v1-v5 Inform/Z-code format interactive fiction game files including Infocom and post-Infocom era story game files. Interactive Fiction games are available at numerous locations including: http://www.plover.net/~davidw/sol/idx_zcode.html and https://www.ifarchive.org/ just look for Z-code files with extension such as .z4 or .z5. Because of the limited size of the disk that a standard System 80 Expansion unit can handle (80tr single sided single density - approx 161kb), there are very few of the later Z5 Infocom games that it can run. The Hitchhikers Guide is the latest Z5 version, without Invisiclues, and Milliways Restaurant was an un-finished, never released but still playable game. ZORK, the Undiscovered Underground was released by Activision, written by ex-Infocom staff, as a free promotional product to coincide with the release of Zork: Grand Inquisitor, which was released for PC only. A few auto-booting disks, with mostly 2 adventures per disk, have been made of mostly recent 2021 & 2022 text adventures made possible using M1ZVM as the loader. PHOBIAS on disk 02 was also written by sijnstra, so thanks again. All are Z5 files so at the DOS prompt, just type in M1ZVM filename/Z5 and hit Newline. The disk contents are : Disk_01 Calypso Desert ZSnake Disk 02 DOTR - Djinn on the Rocks Phobias Disk 03 Captain - Captain Cutter's Treasure Ghostmt - Ghost Mountain Wumpus Disk 04 Alchem - Alchemist's Gold Opporty - A Once in a Lifetime Opportunity Disk 05 Morris Vampire - Carpathian Vampire Disk 06 Huntdark - Hunter, In Darkness Waxworks - Mysterious Adventure #11 Also provided are Gotek *.HFE versions of all these disks. So in the Vintage Repository in the System-80/Software/Disks folder we placed Milliways_Restaurant_at_the_end_of_the_Universe.dsk The_Hitchhikers_Guide_to_the_Galaxy.dsk ZORK_The_Undiscovered_Underground.dsk Text_Adventures_01.dsk Text_Adventures_02.dsk Text_Adventures_03.dsk Text_Adventures_04.dsk Text_Adventures_05.dsk Text_Adventures_06.dsk |
