SCAP (Stock Control & Pricing) Manual & Program for the System-80 - ChickenMan - 23-02-2024 Thanks to kimjohn for making this manual available to be scanned. It was scanned at 300dpi and converted to a searchable PDF as usual. Its A4 in size, 56 pages long and a catalogue number of X-3750. Produced by Dick Smith Electronics in 1980. The Dick Smith STOCK CONTROL AND PRICING SYSTEM (SCAP) is a powerful computer program designed to run on the very popular System-80 computer. It has been written in Australia, specifically to meet the needs of small to medium Australian business firms. Here are some of the many outstanding features which it can offer YOU - * Control and management of up to 1200 stock lines. * Simple "menu-driven" operation. * The ability to get up-to-date information on any stock item, in seconds. * The use of a very fast machine-language sorting routine. * The ability to get an up-to-date summary of your overall stock position at any time. * The ability to produce up-to-date printed price lists and stock status listings. * Convenient "flagging" of new, adjusted and discontinued items. * The ability to keep track of gross profit margins for each and every stock item. * Automatic adjustment of stock levels and status. * The ability to print out stock item count sheets. * Easy expansion. In order to run SCAP on your System-80 computer system and get the full benefit of its features, you will need at least the following hardware items: 1 x System-80 computer, video monitor and expansion unit, with a total of 32K of RAM memory. 2 x 40-track floppy disk drives with daisy-chain cable and power supply 1 x 132-column printer with cable Unfortunately the manual did not come with the program. However, the BASIC listing of the program is included in the last 6 pages of the manual in fine print. These were then scanned at 600dpi and ocr'ed separately with the text extracted and saved as separate files. There are 2 programs, the main SCAP program and a much smaller SCPPSST sort program. As usual the number 0 and capital O's were mixed so manually corrected. Same with number 1 and lowercase letter l. There were few other issues but I think I have them all corrected. However, the BASIC used is the one that comes with PERCOM OS-80/Microdos and incompatible with the other normal Basics used. The MERGE command in Basic can load in an ASCII/TXT file and you can then save out as a /BAS file. The TRS80gp emulator is even easier, so if you boot a MICRODOS disk, you just drag and & drop the ASCII files from your Windows desktop, and they start running. However, they both error out eventually with a problem that makes no sense to me. So I have made available the ascii versions of both SCAP & SCPSST programs for anyone to play with them together with MICRODOS. Remember you need 2 disks drives for it to work also and please let us know if you do get it to run. So in the Vintage Repository in the System-80\Manuals folder we placed dse_scap_system_manual.pdf <-- all 3 in the one ZIP file scap.asc scpsst.asc |
