Hello! - void - 25-05-2025 G'day! My exposure to the Microbee was at my primary school back in the 80s. We were lucky enough to have a dedicated computer room filled with a network of Microbees - at least one for every two students in a class if I recall. Fond memories of playing Taipan, Shipwreck Island, Dodge, Snake (not sure if that was named something else), and Lemonade Stand. And on the more serious side (but still fun!), learning Logo with Turtle. Anyway, I'm a bit of a retro-computing nerd, and thought I'd check out what's happening with this fairly unique slice of computing history these days. Cheers! Rob. RE: Hello! - ChickenMan - 25-05-2025 Hi Rob and welcome to the forum ![]() As a "retro-computing nerd" I would assume you have a Microbee in your collection. If not wait a couple months or so for the release of a new model Microbee and then you can play all those old programs again as they are all in our Repository plus many more. RE: Hello! - MbeeTech - 26-05-2025 Hi Rob. Welcome to the forum, and thanks for your intro post. I'll keep an eye out for the new release! Otherwise, thanks for the welcome MbeeTech and ChickenMan! I have a TI-994A with the peripheral expansion box - this was my childhood computer. I have a C64, which as a TI owner caused me a lot of jealousy towards my C64 owning friends, but now I finally own one. I have always been in love with the sound of the SID chip - I have two synthesizers that are based around the SID (Sidstation and Therapsid) and at last count I think I own around 6 or 7 SID chips. I also have a ZX Spectrum N-GO, which is pretty cool as the FPGA can be reprogrammed to many different 8-bit machines of that era. On the console front, an original Gameboy, GBA, NES, Master System, Megadrive, a modded PS1, and a whole bunch of Game & Watches. Not sure if they're considered retro yet, but also an Xbox 360, a DS Lite and a 3DS. Unfortunately I have to balance retro computer collecting with my synth collection, but it's a fun journey. Hoping to add a Microbee to the list when the new release is out! Cheers! Rob. |
