Two original Microbee tapes recovered - ChickenMan - 03-08-2025 Thanks to MbeeTech for making these 2 tapes available to be recovered. Both were original Applied Tech tapes and were recorded stereo at 44khz and saved as 16bit WAV files. These were re-sampled down to 22khz and saved as mono 8 bit WAV files to reduce their file size but retaining their wave layout. All load error free into ubee512 emulator via Basic only (they contained a Loader file that dont load in the Monitor) in Premium PC85 mode. First tape was titled Craps & Roulettee, written by John & David Peters in 1983. Both of these were released later on the honeysoft_bee_casino.dsk (already in the Repository) but are missing as WAV files for all the early diskless Microbee's. It came also with its cassette insert which was scanned. With an error free loading into ubee512, the games were able to be saved out as individual MWB files which are included in the ZIP file with the WAV files. The tape contained one only 300 baud copy of Craps on Side A and Roulette on Side B but there was a backup copy of Craps on a user recorded tape that had been saved at 1200 baud. So both speeds now available. The second tape was titled Lenses which came loose without a case or cassette insert. The tape contained only one 300 baud copy of the program and second side was blank. The program when run was titled Ray Tracing for Thin Lenses and is menu driven with a few options. So in the MbeeTech Repository in the Microbee\Software\Tapes\Original we placed the following craps_300b.wav <---- both in a zip file with its MWB file craps_1200b.wav / roulette_300b.wav <-- in a zip file with its MWB file lenses_ray_tracing_300b.wav <-- in a zip file with its MWB file craps_&_roulette.jpg <-- these in the Microbee\Documentation\Pictures\Tapes folder lenses.jpg |
