Thanks to Richard Collett (the author of all Dreamdisk software) for providing copies of these manuals. Both A4 in size and 16 and 11 pages long respectively and were scanned at 600dpi before converting to searchable PDF's as usual.
The assembly_instructions_for_dream_board_v3_kit.pdf, as the name suggests, is for the later Version 3 of the Dreamdisk controller board. It consists of 3 sections, being -
1. Floppy disk controller.
2. Real time clock.
3. Hard (Winchester) disk controller interface.
From the manual -
This Assembly Manual describes the assembly and testing of the Dream controller kit
from a bare printed circuit board to a working floppy disk controller. You should
also have a Dream User Manual, which describes the necessary alterations to your
computer, assembly of drives and drive cases and introductory information about the
software on the distribution disk. Some parts of these instructions are almost
repeated in the User Manual which is produced for those buying a completed
controller board.
BeeDOS came in a ROM for 16k and 32k rom based Microbees and together with a Dreamdisk controller attached, it give floppy disk access. Unfortunately we don't have this ROM, have been looking for it for many years, so if anyone could help locating it, that would be awesome. From the Manual -
The Dreamdisk BeeDOS is a simplified Disk Operating System for the MicroBee,
which gives the user fast and convenient storage of BASIC programs and data,
machine language games, EDASM source files and word processor files, without
the need for the CP/M operating system, which can be unfriendly and difficult
to master quickly.
With the BeeDOS ROM inserted into the NETwork socket on the core-board, a
16k or 32k MicroBee becomes a much more powerful machine, without losing any
convenience or commands. All files created by the BeeDOS are CP/M compatible
and use the same format as the Dreamdisk with CP/M and Applied Technology disk
systems.
Commands currently available are:
COPY Copies one file to another disk.
DIR Print a directory of the disk to the screen.
DISKRESET Reset drives.
EOF Returns -1 if end of a data file has been reached.
KILL Remove the named file from the disk.
LOADM Load the reared file from disk.
LOAD . Load the named BASIC program from disk.
NAME Rename a file on the disk.,
OPEN Open named file for data input/output.
CLOSE Close named stream after data input/output.
RUNB Load and run named utility from disk: at 200H.
RUNM Load and run named file from disk at a nominated address.
RUN Load the named BASIC program from disk and run it.
SAVEB Save a machine program in auto execute format.
SAVEM Save a block of memory to disk.
SAVE Save the current BASIC program.
SETDISK Select new disk format.
TDCOPY Copy a machine language tape to disk.
TYPE Type a text file to the screen.
