Thanks to MingTheMad for providing a dump of this rom, a 2764 rom that was found in a Series 2 32k Microbee.
Sydney Approach is a "real time", graphics, Air Traffic controller simulation. You must handle all incoming aircraft and direct them to Sydney ground control, plus control all outgoing flights until they can be correctly passed to the next control centre on their flight path. Your performance is being monitored by your supervisor, who will remove any aircraft which you place into dangerous situations, and score you accordingly. There are nine levels of play, with additional hazards for the higher levels. Was written by Allan Huish in 1985.
You are the approach radar controller at Sydney International Airport.
Your task is to manage all aircraft in your airspace, and to "hand off"
as many as possible to the next controller in the time available. The
game will automatically abort if you cause three accidents (or unsafe
conditions). You should be careful to use the shortest paths possible
to conserve fuel.
When the program is loaded, it will initially start in "demonstration"
mode and show three inbound aircraft being controlled. This demo mode
continues until you press a key to take control.
Thanks also to Vivid for testing the rom (he's an avid Sydney Approach user) to confirm that it works okay and that your able to finish the game. So a very good indication the rom is a good dump.
We also have this game on honeysoft_strategic_games_vol_1.dsk and games_4_ds80.dsk disks as well a Tape file (WAV). We also have the Manual that is essential to understand the short cuts they use to describe everything. To use it via ubee512 emulator, use
ubee512 ic --pak1=sydney_approach.rom
and at the Basic prompt, type in PAK1 then tap Return and it almost instantly starts.
So in the MBeeTech Repository in the Microbee\Software\ROMs\Games folder we placed
sydney_approach.rom
