Thanks to MbeeTech for making this disk available to be imaged. A standard 3.5" Microbee SS80 disk that was imaged 100% error free.
NewWord was released in 1983 by NewStar Software Incorporated. It is a clone of the wordprocessor WordStar that was created by former MicroPro employees. It filled a gap for WordStar users as WordStar 3.3 went un-updated, and eventually became the basis for WordStar 4.0. One of NewWord's distinguishing features is "what you see is what you get." so you can see BOLD and Underline like in Wordstar 4 or Simply Write.
This version has been modified for the Microbee Memory-mapped Colour VDU but unfortunately there is no install/setup program on the disk and was unable to find one elsewhere on the net. This program only works on the Premium 128k and 256TC Microbees. It opens with :-
However, I eventually was able to track down a full manual for this CP/M version as well as a Pocket Reference card that lists all the commands used by the program. The disk contains a number of sample files but not all the ones quoted in the manual.
So in the MbeeTech Repository in the Microbee\Software\Applications\Wordprocessors folder we placed
NewWord_v1.27_ss80.dsk
NewWord_Users_Guide.pdf <-- these in Microbee\Documentation\Manuals\Software folder
NewWord_Pocket_Reference.pdf
