From my recent purchase of Microbee material there was a document titled Micro Bee Chess, with Microbee spelt as 2 words. A4 in size and 2 pages long. Scanned at 600dpi and converted to a searchable PDF as usual.
Described as a new release of 26/12/82, it fixes a few problems. Aurthor unknow of the manual but assumed to be Ron Harris. There are two versions of the Chess program and from the manual -
The first is a cassette program which is a "Kludge" from the MDOS version for DGOS
with PCG card, and Peter Glazebrook's chunky graphics program called AUTOCHESS. I
have simply re-written the VDU driver routines to suit Microbee's PCG peculiarities
(no single bit inversion attribute in PCG node, etc) and made some minor changes
such as ensuring that the answers may be in upper or lower case, and allowed more
latitude in the co-ordinate responces. This program works well, with the exception
that when you use "?" to get the program to make a move for you, the list of moves
displayed on the left hand side is not always formatted correctly.
The second version is in EPROM. It lives in the two holes normally allocated for
EDASM, and is invoked by the EDASM command from BASIC. This version is a major
re-write of the program, most of the formatting problems have been overcome, and
a new mode that allows the program to play a complete demonstration game against
itself has been introduced. Although I said that it is a major re-write, it is still
heavily based on the "SARGON" algorithm.
We have Chess in both the Tape and EPROM forms as well as released in disk on honeysoft_family_games_vol_1.dsk. We also have 2 later A5 printed Chess/Chess Tutor manuals in the Repository.
So in the MbeeTech Repository in the Microbee\Documentation\Manuals\Games folder we placed
microbee_chess_manual.pdf
